Rachael McCrosky

LGBT Institute Research Fellow, Spring 2016 Cohort

Rachael McCrosky is currently enrolled in the Doctoral program in the Sociology Department at Georgia State University. She came to GSU from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida where she received her Master’s in Applied Sociology. Prior to this, Rachael received her B.S. in Nursing from McNeese State University in Louisiana. She also spent two years teaching high school health and sex education in Winter Garden, Florida. Her main areas of research interest are the intersections of gender, sexuality, and health care experiences – her Master’s thesis examined non-monogamous women’s experiences of stigma during sexual health care visits. Additionally, she is interested in the sociology of diagnosis, and the social construction of pain, illness, injury, and deviance
