Georgia Equality, Freedom to Marry, and the Center for Civil and Human Right’s LGBT Institute to Host Atlanta Decision Day Event

WHEN:  Friday, June 26th, 4:30PM-7:00PM

WHAT: Following a decision on marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court – win or lose – Georgia Equality, Freedom to Marry, the LGBT Institute, and the Atlanta community will come together to mark this historic moment and talk about what the ruling means for same-sex couples and their families. If the Supreme Court hands down a positive ruling, the event will celebrate the victory for the freedom to marry nationwide.  If it’s a negative ruling, it will be an opportunity to talk about next steps for Georgia and how to end marriage discrimination as soon as possible in the state.

WHO: Georgia Equality; Freedom to Marry; LGBT Institute at the Center for Civil and Human Rights; plaintiffs and attorneys from Georgia’s marriage lawsuit; Fulton County chairman, John Eaves; Fulton County commissioner, Joan Garner; Atlanta City council member, Alex Wan; State Representatives Karla Drenner and Simone Bell; and Rabbi Joshua Lesser and other civic and religious leaders.  Entertainment will be provided by Congregation Bet Haverim Choir and Atlanta Freedom Band.
